A file cannot be opened or overwritten
Use the macOS access panel to allow the file or a suitable parent folder. If the file moved, was restored or is now on another volume, choose its current location again.

Include the MergeDock and macOS versions, comparison mode, steps that led to the problem and any message shown. Do not attach confidential files. If we ask for a sample, remove sensitive information before sending it.

Common problems and solutions
Text looks wrong or every line differs
Open the encoding review, check both sides, then choose the intended encoding or line ending. Refresh Interpretation updates the text already open in MergeDock; it does not quietly reopen the source file.
Git difftool or mergetool does not open
Open Git Integration in MergeDock settings and check the configured command. If macOS asks for repository access, choose the repository you want MergeDock to use.
A save did not complete successfully
If an unexpected termination or write error leaves recovery data, open Recovery Center from Settings > Recovery and Storage to review it. Edits explicitly discarded when closing a comparison cannot be recovered.

1. Scope and acceptance
These Terms of Use apply to the MergeDock macOS application, this website and related support. By installing or using MergeDock, you agree to these terms and the applicable Apple Media Services terms.
2. License
Subject to these terms, you receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to use MergeDock for personal or business file-comparison and merge work. MergeDock and its original software, interface and documentation remain protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
3. App Store and in-app purchases
MergeDock is distributed through the Mac App Store. Purchases, restoration, billing, refunds and regional pricing are handled under Apple's systems and policies. Product availability and current prices are those shown by the App Store at the time of purchase.
4. Your files, permissions and backups
You retain responsibility for the files you open, compare, edit, copy, delete or save. Review the target and maintain appropriate backups before performing operations that modify data. Grant access only to files and folders you are authorized to use.
5. Prohibited use
You must not use MergeDock to violate law or third-party rights, bypass security controls, distribute malware, interfere with the service, or reverse engineer the app except where applicable law expressly permits it.
6. Updates and availability
Features may change as MergeDock, macOS and App Store requirements evolve. Support for a device, format, workflow or external tool is not guaranteed indefinitely. We may suspend a feature when needed for security, reliability or legal compliance.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MergeDock is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, fitness for a particular purpose or error-free results. You are responsible for reviewing comparison and merge output before relying on it.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, liability for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or lost-data damages arising from use of MergeDock is excluded. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
9. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
The Fukuoka District Court shall have exclusive jurisdiction as the court of first instance for disputes arising from or relating to MergeDock or these terms.
